Dubai, UAE 30 June 2022: It was her family’s passion for diving and protecting marine life that first drew Asuncion Lopez to Emirates Draw. She was impressed by the socially responsible organisation’s commitment towards assisting conservation efforts through its Coral Reef Restoration Programme. Now, that support has paid off for the Spanish expatriate as she became one of the latest batch of Emirates Draw winners to receive AED 77,777 each.
“I couldn’t believe it when I saw the email. I rushed to show my husband, but he didn’t believe that I had won. I think once I receive my winnings, he’ll change his mind and possibly become a participant too,” Asuncion, a mother of two, said giggling.
Lopez, a 50-year-old housewife based in Dubai, first learnt about Emirates Draw through an article in a Spanish newspaper and was intrigued at its premise of encouraging people to support the protection of coral reefs through an opportunity to voluntarily participate in its weekly raffle draw.
“My entire family is very passionate about diving. We regularly take our sons, who are 11 and 12 years old, on scuba diving excursions in Fujairah. When I first read about Emirates Draw, I really wanted to support their efforts, even if I never won anything because I want to do my part to preserve the marine environment for my sons and all future generations,” she said.
Asuncion, who has lived in the UAE for eight years with her family, plans to continue supporting the socially responsible organisation through weekly purchases of AED 50 pencils. While she hopes to win again, she is content to focus on celebrating her current win with Emirates Draw.
“There’s temptation to spend the AED 77,777 prize amount on different things, but I’ve told my husband that we’ll use a part of it for another family diving trip to Fujairah and the rest will go into savings. I remember that when the pandemic first hit, we struggled like everyone else, and I want to protect my family as much as possible in case we find ourselves in a similar situation in the future,” Lopez revealed.
Raheem P.K., a 31-year-old Indian expatriate based in Abu Dhabi, shared Asuncion’s delight at joining the ranks of Emirates Draw winners whose lives have been positively impacted by the socially responsible organisation.
“I was thrilled to receive a phone call from Emirates Draw congratulating me on winning AED 77,777. It’s the first time I win anything even though I’ve participated for several times, and I can’t wait to pay off my loans and support my family,” Raheem, a father of two who works as a sales executive, said.
The socially responsible organisation has distributed over AED 29 million in prize money to over 21,000 participants to date, both in its guaranteed raffle round, which offers seven participants the opportunity to win AED 77,777 each as well as its draw round, where participants can win in any of the seven categories featured, starting from AED 7, by matching numbers from right to left.
The AED 100 Million Grand Prize, the largest in the region, remains up for grabs to be claimed by a single person or group of people who match all seven numbers from right to left. Optimistic participants have another chance to try for the life-changing prize during the next draw round, which will again be broadcast live on Sunday, 3 July 2022, at 9 PM UAE time.
How to play?
Entrants can choose to participate in the weekly draw by purchasing an AED 50 pencil, part of which goes to support the environment through the planting of coral polyps along the coast of the UAE and as part of Emirates Draw’s main corporate social responsibility programme to support the UAE government’s vision. After registering online at www.emiratesdraw.com or through the mobile application, participants can select their seven-digit number or have the system choose their numbers randomly.
With their purchase, participants are entered into two separate drawings, the first a raffle draw where every week seven lucky participants are guaranteed AED 77,777 each. In addition, all participants have the choice to be entered into a second draw with 7 prize categories that start at AED 7 and include a Grand Prize of AED100 million when all seven numbers are matched.
The next draw will be live streamed across its digital platforms, YouTube, and Facebook.
